I recently had the opportunity to sail aboard SeaDream for the first time – and to say I’m hooked is an understatement! SeaDream challenges every cruise stereotype and delights its guests along the way with a one-of-a-kind travel experience in spectacular ports of call throughout the Caribbean (in the winter/spring months) and the Mediterranean (in the summer/fall months).
About SeaDream Yacht Club
The brainchild of Seabourn’s founder Arne Brynestad, SeaDream set out in 2001 to deliver a small-ship cruising experience unlike anything the industry had seen before. Many years and accolades later, SeaDream’s voyages remain full year-round with an impressively high repeat guest ratio. Now that I’ve sailed with them, I definitely understand why.
The Experience
Being on a SeaDream cruise is pure bliss. Between sumptuous cabins, out-of-this-world cuisine, outstanding staff, and a top-notch spa, it’s an A+ experience on board. And did I mention the champagne and caviar served on the beach in the British Virgin Islands?
With no more than 112 guests on any given voyage and almost that many staff (Seadream’s guest-to-staff ratio is right around 1:1), there’s an intimate yet casual atmosphere which is the signature hallmark of the brand. I particularly enjoyed getting to know some of the other guests and crew, who hailed from all over the world. The vibe on board made for a friendly and convivial atmosphere amongst like-minded travelers.
SeaDream Yacht Club Activities
Whether lounging by the pool or in one of the Balinese Dream Beds on deck, enjoying a spa treatment or the ocean from the Watersports Marina Platform, there’s no shortage of things to do by day. By night, guests can be found enjoying their favorite beverage at “Top of the Yacht” bar, mingling over hors d’oeuvres before dinner, or trying their hand at Black Jack while enjoying live music in the piano bar. It was just the right amount of nightlife in my opinion!
My Sailing Experience
My particular sailing included stops on St. Kitts, St. Barts and Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands, to name a few. The small size of SeaDream’s ships means their voyages stop at more destinations that bigger cruise ships can’t access. No crowded ports, hawking vendors, etc!

Katherine Gould clients receive exclusive amenities on some SeaDream sailings through my affiliation with Virtuoso. SeaDream’s tagline “It’s Yachting, Not Cruising” is spot on. If you’ve never thought yachting or cruising was for you, think again – I know I did.
