Growing up with a mom in the travel industry, my daughter has had the good fortune of taking a number of special trips with me to Paris, London, and Edinburgh, to name a few. When a last minute opportunity arose for us to get out of town before school started last month, I jumped at the chance to plan a Mother-Daughter Trip to NYC!

With our travel dates confirmed, the two of us sat down to prioritize what we wanted to see and do in the Big Apple this time around, and I began building our itinerary from there. My goal? For us to experience new sites and neighborhoods through a few pre-arranged activities, while allowing plenty of free time for things like shopping (of course), lingering over a great meal, or taking a spontaneous walk in Central Park. A balance of scheduled and free time is the foundation of every itinerary I plan for my clients.

I’d never stayed in Tribeca before and am a lover of all things French, so Fouquet’s New York was the obvious hotel choice for this trip. This glorious five-star property feels quintessentially Parisian, while embracing the swanky yet residential feel synonymous with Tribeca. Between the bougie rooms and public areas, fabulous dining, and stunning art on display throughout, Fouquet’s New York is a shining star in a city loaded with luxury properties. I’d return in a heartbeat.

Fouquet’s New York is a Virtuoso affiliated property, so my clients receive the following complimentary amenities:
- Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
- Daily breakfast credit of $50 USD per person, for up to two guests per bedroom, served in the restaurant or via in-room dining
- $100 USD Resort or Hotel credit to be utilized during stay
- Bespoke Welcome Amenity
- Early check-in / Late check-out, subject to availability
Here are a few highlights from our Mother-Daughter Trip to NYC:
Soho and West Village shopping, which included perfume making at Olfactory and a lot of back-to-school shopping for my daughter (maybe some fall shopping for me too!). I’ve updated my shopping recommendations for mother and daughter clients in these two parts of the city, where fun boutiques abound.

Private Food Tour in Chinatown. Booked through one of my trusted partners, this private tour was fun and informative. We ate our way through the neighborhood, all the while learning more about Chinatown’s history and famed cuisine. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and took us in and out of delicious eateries not frequented by tourists. The food was out of this world!

Taking in a Broadway Show. Always fans of jukebox musicals, we decided to see & Juliet. LOVED IT. My ticket broker was able to secure excellent seats for us at a discounted rate, just like they do for my clients.

Afternoon Tea. There are several great options in the city, each with its own vibe. Tea time is an ideal quality time activity, so it was the perfect addition to our Mother-Daughter trip to NYC. I chose to make a reservation at The Lowell, another Virtuoso hotel I highly recommend for clients wanting to stay in the Upper East Side. Their Lily of the Valley Tea, complete with Dior china in an intimate solarium setting, made for a special afternoon and trip favorite.

In addition to planning my own Mother-Daughter trips, I’ve planned countless others for Katherine Gould Travel clients around the globe. From choosing the right hotel to the right experiences, each itinerary is crafted to meet the individual needs of my clients. I leverage my industry connections to open the door for private and exclusive experiences only available through my network.
